First Central Group has been shortlisted in Guernsey’s prestigious Awards for Achievement.

The company was named Employer of the Year at the Awards for Achievement gala event last February in front of more than 500 of the island’s business community.

Organisers and judges announced the shortlists for this year’s eight awards recently, and First Central Group is one of three businesses vying for the Innovation of the Year award for our leading-edge system, Focus.

Our bespoke, full retail insurance platform was built in-house by our development team. It allows our businesses extreme agility and the ability to collate, utilise and analyse data quickly and accurately. The flexibility of the platform enables 1ST CENTRAL products to fulfil our vision to empower people to get on with what matters.

Chief Technology Officer, John Davison, commented that off-the-shelf products did not come close to serving First Central Group’s needs. The team recruited smart minds in Guernsey to build, and then evolve, providing 1ST CENTRAL with a state-of-the-art platform.

“Focus allows First Central Group to disrupt the traditional UK motor insurance market with an ever-evolving brand aligned to the customer experience; adapting to allow the customer the freedom to purchase and manage their policies as they wish,” he said.

“Our system was initially launched in 2012 as a platform specifically targeted at the very high volume UK motor insurance aggregator market. It has been adapting ever since to continue to stay ahead of competitors by offering a unique experience to our customers.

We are enormously proud that the design, build, modification and roadmap of this product resides with First Central Group and is supplied across other entities within the group. We have more than 100 virtual servers, spread across four data centres in the UK and the Channel Islands supplying a true 365 day, 24/7 service.”

The nail-biting awards night takes place on Thursday 9th February and the team will be there proudly waving the flag for innovation and for Guernsey.
